Yerba Mate is a fresh green tea that unlike other herbal teas actually contatins caffeine. It is very similar in taste to some of the vegetal Green Teas from Japan. Traditionally grown and drank in South America, where it is often chosen instead of coffee because it can be brewed strong in the morning and topped up throughout the day without tasting bitter or acidic.
High in antioxidants, and a great energiser as it contains high levels of caffeine that are released slowly into the body so gives you boost for a longer period of time, not just a quick hit. Many describe the teas affect as gentle, clean and calm while helping to keep alert, energised and emotionally stable.
The flavor of brewed Mate is quite similar to olives, its herbal and grassy, reminiscent of some varieties of green tea with a destinctive smokey taste
